The Princess and The Frog

Well, the base, pencil drawing for this work was sitting in my 'to do' art list for a few years or so now, and I finally got around to finishing it! Every time I'd run into again, I'd think,'Man, I gotta finish that.. when I have the time', and so on.
Each time I'd see it, I'd see in my mind's eye, that flame, tangerine orange hair, golden hues and fresh, grass green. Finally the colors are out of my brain, and onto the paper!
This is the 2nd time I have visited this story in art, and always feel badly for the frog(prince). Here he is, trying to get the selfish Princess's attention, after he has retrieved her golden ball from the well. He's tapping her as if to say,'Um, excuse me, remember the promise you made to reward me for getting your precious ball?'
It always makes me feel SO badly for him, because she truly treats him poorly. He even had to hop all the way to the castle, after she took off without keeping her word to him. Just on two frogs legs mind you!
When forced by her father the king, to honor her words, she is made to have the frog in the palace with her as their guest. And of course, she keeps treating him awfully. In one version, she even throws him against a wall! I'm not kidding!
But ultimately, when she gets a clue, or what could also be seen as the Grace of God to see how she was behaving, she is kind to him-eventually giving him a kiss, and transforming him back into his human self.
Though, this is also a story of mercy, because the frog prince puts up with all her meaness, and yet, marries her in the end! How many times has God been patient with me, when I was less than nice with my words, actions and intentions? We should all remember our little froggy friend, his mercy to a jerkface, and finally, equal right for frogs everywhere!!
